Dr. Joseph W. Aguiar is a board certified plastic surgeon. Over his 15 year career, he has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals on a variety of plastic and reconstructive surgery topics. He has also completed fellowships and educational seminars in plastic surgery, microsurgery, maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, and rhinoplasty.

Dr. Aguiar earned his medical degree at the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine in 1991, completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, his Plastic Surgery residency at Indiana University Medical Center, and his Hand Surgery residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Fluent in Portuguese, Dr. Aguiar trained with world renowned Plastic and Cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Ivo Pitanguy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a member of the Florida Medical Association, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Tampa Bay Plastic Surgery Society.
